CHAPTER TEN

When Oak felt someone standing too close to him, he looked over and locked eyes with Trish. He was at the mall looking at shoes that he didn’t need. He already had four pairs in his hand, and he had purchased two pairs the day before, but shopping was one of the things distracting him from his heartache. Oak was trying really hard to stop overdoing it with the alcohol, so he had to keep himself moving and busy. He hadn’t seen Trish since the night they had sex, but each time they came face to face, he was reminded of just how beautiful she was. Seeing her also reminded him that he could use some pussy right about now. Oddly enough, sex was one of the distractions that he hadn’t been really using since his father died. Maybe it was time to change that.

“What’s going on, stranger?” she asked him as her hazel eyes glistened. Yeah, she was bad as fuck.

“Not shit. Just in here doing a lil’ shopping.” He looked over her short shorts and crop top. “You in here looking for clothes to put on?” he teased, and she smiled and kissed her teeth.

“Don’t do me. It’s hot as hell outside. Well, I just wanted to speak.”

Oak’s eyes slid down her petite frame. “That’s all you wanted to do?” he felt his dick hardening. He hadn’t even been horny until he lay eyes on her. Now all he wanted to do was slide up in her.

Trish blushed. Each and every time she came into contact with Oak, she felt stupid for being attracted to him. She felt that she was going against the grain and her father by even talking to him, but he wasn’t so bad, right? He spared her life and her father’s even when he didn’t come with all of the money by the designated deadline. That had to count for something.

“Yeah, that’s all I wanted to do because if you were thinking about me, you would have hit me up,” she said with a playful attitude.

“Man, life been fucked up. My father died, and I haven’t really been around anybody like that but family.”

“Oh, I’m sorry to hear that.” When Trish stopped salivating over his good looks and looked deeper, she could indeed see that his eyes held traces of sadness.

“It’s all good. What you doing when you leave here?”

“I don’t have any plans. I don’t have class tonight, and I quit my job because they had me fucked up.”

“Bet. I’ll text you in about an hour.”

“Okay.”

The two parted ways while Oak dropped $4,000 on things he didn’t need. He had always been big on spending money, but in his grief, he was blowing through racks daily. Oak felt like why not? When he died, he couldn’t take the shit with him, and as of right now, he didn’t have kids or anyone to leave his money to. He was already straight from his legit business and the family business, but his father’s death had made the young man very wealthy.
